Charlie the Tinkerbell

Is there a fairy out there named Charlie? I ask because we, I mean Santa, bought Ray one of those Disney Tinkerbell fairy dolls that are out now and she keeps calling it Charlie. "Mommy, where's my Charlie?" "Mommy, her name isn't Tink, its Charlie." "Mommy, my Tinkerbell's name is Charlie."

I don't get it.

Announcements

Ray had a very important announcement to make while we were at the grocery store. As I was having a conversation with the seafood guy regarding our upcoming Christmas Eve grouper meal, Ray just HAD to tell me something.

Me (to the seafood guy): I need enough grouper for three adults and two kids.
Ray: Mommy, Mommy!
Me (to the seafood guy): How much would you recommend?
Ray: Moooooommmmmmyyyyyyy! Its important!!!!!!
Me (to the seafood guy): OK, 1.8 lbs looks like it will be enough.
Ray: Mommy! LISTEN TO ME, MOMMY!!!!!!
Me (to Ray while the seafood guy is getting our fish together): Please stop shouting. What is so important?
Ray: Chay loves girls. He only likes boys, but he loooovvvvesssss girls.

The seafood guy had a good chuckle from that one. And, I've realized that I'm not prepared to have these types of conversations with my children yet.

The Night Before Christmas

Mommy, I've been nice. So, after I go to sleep, Santa is going to come pick me up and fly me to where it snows and I'll meet Rudolph and the other reindeers and I'll get presents. That will happen after Santa picks me up. . .Then I'll see the snow. . . . . . Then I'll meet Rudolph. . . . . . . . . . Then I'll open presents. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Mommy, I wanna go to sleep.

Shhh...My Show's On

Ray's favorite show is a commercial, seriously. You know the one where the middle aged white men (and one woman) dance around singing about the "Big Old Expensive Phone Company." I can't even tell you what its for because I am busy laughing at my two children who will drop whatever it is they are doing and run to the TV when it comes on. They even dance. Ray hushed me last night because I dared to speak while the commercial was on. I'm just glad I don't have to listen to that commercial in the car. It really makes Mickey and friends more bearable.

Who mends a bucket with straw?

There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, there's a hole!

Then mend it, dear Goofy, dear Goofy, dear Goofy,
Then mend it, dear Goofy, dear Goofy, then mend it!

With what, dear Liza, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what, dear Liza, dear Liza, with what?

With some straw, dear Goofy, dear Goofy, dear Goofy,
With some straw, dear Goofy, dear Goofy, with some straw!

Seriously, am I a bad mom if I destroy her favorite CD?????

Mickey and Friends

Dear Ray,

I understand that Mickey and Minnie Mouse are your best friends. I get that your favorite CD is Mickey and friends singing their versions of old time kids songs. But if I have to listen to that CD one more time in the car (each and every time we are in the car!), I am going to throw it out the window. That is why Santa is bringing you your very own CD player with ear phones for the car. Merry Christmas!

Love,
Your Mom

Oh, Christmas Tree, Oh, Christmas Tree!

We decorated the tree yesterday. Ray helped and hung all the ornaments down at the bottom at her level. Chay helped by taking all the ornaments off at his level (i.e., near the bottom) and throwing them.

Glass ball ornaments + 1 year old boy + ceramic tile floors = broken glass and bloody body parts

Needless to say, our tree no longer has decorations at Ray and Chay level.

Crack is Wack

Chay woke up again last night at 1:30 am. But this time we were ready for him. When I walked into his room holding his bottle, he acted like he was having withdrawls. I couldn't get that bottle in his mouth fast enough! Sucked that bottle right down in no time flat -- then wanted more. Sorry little dude, but I've gotta limit your addictions some what.

And, yes, I know, at 16 mths he shouldn't be having a bottle anymore. I work two jobs, volunteer, raise 2 kids, and I've gotta sleep sometimes. So if giving him a random bottle here and there allows me the luxury of going back to sleep at 1:45 am instead of 4:45 am, he gets to feed his addiction.

It Snows In Florida?

“Mommy, when it snows at Christmas time we will have to walk on the snow. Because…. Because…. Because I can’t fly. And you’ll have to carry Chay.”
-- Ray on the way to school this morning.

I can’t bear to tell her that it won’t be snowing in Florida.

Why Am I Here?

Not sure why I started this blog. I've never had a blog before. I just started reading other people's blogs recently. I am so not a blogging kind of person. And, I certainly don't believe that any one in their right mind is interested in reading what I have to say. I'll be shocked (shocked, I tell you!) if anyone other than myself ever reads it. Which is probably a good thing, because (1) my life is really uninteresting (in other words, boring to those outside of my household) and (2) I'll probably say or do something really embarassing only to have it live on indefinitely in the blogosphere.

I'm Cranky Today

Chay was up from 1:30 to 4:45 am last night, screaming his lungs out. We were all out of our sure fire sleep getters -- milk and Motrin -- so we were at a loss as to how to get him to sleep. Around 4:30, E couldn't take it anymore and drove up to 7-11 to get milk (thank god for 24 hour stores). You all know where this is going right? Chay fell asleep about 5 minutes after he left. Rotten kid.
